Pre-Trip Goal Setting
Before the trip, I took some time to reflect on the topic of sustainability and my consumer habits as well as my personal intentions of heading to Bali.

As a freshman student, I had many doubts before embarking on the course - having felt insecure about the lack of abilities and experiences as compared to everyone else on this Study Mission mostly being within the penultimate and graduating demographic. What's more daunting was the fact that this was my first ever SMU-X course, overseas!
Driven and self-motivated, I decided to push myself out of my comfort zone where I worked on my passion of the UNSDGs and being confident of what I bring to the table.
My Goals!

Interpersonal Goals
within a
realm of Diversity
To keep an open-mind in exploring diverse cultures and to immerse myself in the lenses of the locals, venturing out of my comfort zone.
To delve into local perspectives and create an inclusive space for everyone despite barriers such as language and understanding.
To practice saying no and establish healthy boundaries when working in a team, encouraging a culture of empathic communication within the group.

Environment
and
Sustainability
To be inspired by sustainable intiatives that are happening outside of Singapore, adopting these ideas and applying them in the works that I do including advocacy.
To "tapau" the culture of sustainability from passionate Balinese local heroes and share them within my social circles, encouraging my friends and family to work towards a greener world.

Self-Improvement
and
Personal Development
To connect with and heal through nature, living the slow life away from Singapore's concrete jungle.
To be a better individual who expresses love and kindness for Mother Nature and our planet Earth.
To set myself a challenge, in my first SMU-X course in my university life to head overseas and pitch an experiential project to external collaborators.
